Kalyan Veeramachaneni

Visit: Kalyans Home Page

Kalyan completed his B.S in Electrical Engineering from J. N. T. U, Hyderabad, India. He received M.S in Computer Engineering in 2005 from Syracuse University, and is a Doctoral candidate in Electrical Engineering at Syracuse University. He expects to finish his Ph.D. in Summer 2009.

Kalyan’s doctoral dissertation focuses in organizing and configuring distributed detection (sensor) networks using swarm intelligence based approaches. The traditional approaches limit the use of these networks for “signals buried in additive noise”. A universal design approach is achieved by using bottom-up swarm intelligence based approaches.

Applications of the design are in Biometrics [1], diagnostics and prognostics of critical infrastructure [5] and detection of non-line-of sight components in received ultra-wide band signals. The design has lead to a novel fusion algorithm, AMBM, for multimodal biometrics [1], [6].
