Lockheed Martin Tour |
2.7.2006 |
We are having our general body meeting tonight at 6PM. We'll have food and information on how to join IEEE.
Also, we have arranged all the details for the Lockheed Martin plant tour. It will be on a Friday in March, either the 3rd or the 24th. |

News update |
1.30.2006 |
Sorry for the delay in updating the news, there was a problem with uploading files. Anyway, not much has happened since we had winter break just 2 weeks ago. I have updated all the files/pages with the new minutes. We are still planning to have the Lockheed Martin tour and are finalizing the hours. It will most likely be on a Wednesday or Friday.
We will also have our General Body Meeting on February 7th. So, if you are not sure what IEEE has to offer, come to this meeting. It will either be in Link 220 or Link 369. Once the time/place is set, I will post the time here. |

Verizon Presentation |
11.30.2005 |
Despite some difficulties, we managed to get a presentation this week.. This one was by Craig Cobb, who talkedabout the various networks that Verizon has. Everything from VoIP to ATMs, etc were covered and it was quite interesting. It went well and had a relaxed atmosphere. Turnout was good, about twenty people. We served pizza (Acropolis) afterwards that everyone devoured. All in all, another great event.
Look forward to some more events coming up. We're going put off Movie Night again until next semester due to finals week. |

News |
11.28.2005 |
The E-Waste presentation went pretty well, we had about a dozen people show up. It was very interesting, especially the way they break apart components into their individual elements.
Anyway, we have negotiated a deal with Lockheed Martin to have a plant tour sometime in January. The date will be posted once we get more feedback/information. |

Events |
11.12.2005 |
We haven't been having any events in a while, which is why we have a bunch of them coming up. First up is movie night. We will be showing War of the Worlds (2005 version) or Star Wars Episode 3 this coming Friday November 18th. As usual, we'll have popcorn and soda.
Next, we are having a presentation about "E-Waste and Computer Recycling" by Northeast Surplus and Materials Presentation. They will discuss what they do with unwanted computer parts and how they actually reuse the parts rather than dump them out. It seems interesting, so be sure to go. Fliers will be posted around Link as to the location of the meeting.
Craig Cobb will be giving another presentation on November 30th. The topic is not set, but we were thinking about having him talk about the Verizon WiMax network since he works as Verizon.
Lastly, we are also planning a tour of the Lockheed Martin MS2 facility. David Rappaport, our current president, is trying to arrange it. The only problem is security, so hopefully something will be worked out. |

Movie Night |
10.15.2005 |
Well this movie night had a much better turn out than we expected. There were about fifteen people who showed up to watch Firefly - Serenity. If you haven't watched this spectacular movie / Television series, be sure to check it out. Subs from Wegmans were served. |

New Student Executive |
10.12.2005 |
We have chosen Tim Fortnam as our new Events Coordinator in a unanimous vote during the weekly E-Board meeting. He will assist in scheduling events and trying to find more people for tech talks. |

General News |
10.1.2005 |
The general meeting had a large turnout, and the food was great. Rather than your typical pizza, subs were served. I think we're deciding to have another general meeting, so check around Link for fliers on the time.
The movie night went well (we showed Being John Malkovich), but we didn't have as great of a turn out as we expected. I guess we should have put the fliers up earlier. Well, the Friday after this one (10/7), we plan to host some sort of video game night (PS2, XBox, etc). I know I can definitely get Tekken 5, so we might play that and have a contest. The details need to be worked out first though.

Some Events |
9.23.2005 |
After our first two meetings, we have planned several events. There will be a general interest meeting next week Wednesday 9/28 at 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in Link 369. Food will be served (most likely pizza or subs).
Tomorrow, Saturday, there will be a picnic at Clark Reservation. Cost will be $5 for IEEE members and guests, or $15 for nonmembers.
Finally, there will be a movie night next Friday at 8:00PM in Link 369. Most likely the movie will be Apollo 13.

New Website |
6.15.2005 |
Welcome to the new IEEE website for the Syracuse University Student Branch. I hope you like the new design. The old flash site designed by Jeff Song was pretty good, but since I'm a new webmaster, I decided to change the site around. I used some parts from the last website, but most of it is my own creation. |
