Morlet transform

 

Here, I make two changes relative to the conventional presentation, as explained in the pdf file. 

 

The code mirrors the Mexican hat’s (only the filter is different, after all). Compare the two, to gain appreciation of the effect of frequency vs. time resolution on the distribution of wavelet coefficients, on the Nyquist cut-off and on the required number of voices per octave. The normalization coefficient is calculated (numerically) in the Maple worksheet.
