and research interests are in the areas of My research interests are in environmental chemistry and biogeochemistry. I have focused on assessing and quantifying the response of ecosystems to disturbances. The research is largely field-based. Models are alsoused as a research tool to understand the effects of ecosystem disturbance and as a management tool to evaluate ecosystem response to mitigation strategies. An important resource for the research program is the Center for Environmental Systems Engineering (CESE), which includes state-of-the-art analytical equipment. A principal
research focus has been the investigation of effects of acidic depos I also study the structure and function of forest ecosystems through research at the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest in New Hampshire. Finally, I am investigating controls on surface water quality in lakes and rivers in Central New York and embayments to Lake Ontario. I am engaged in a range of service activities related to national, regional and local initiatives related to air and water quality and land-disturbance.
