ACCEPTING THE OFFER

DEFERRING YOUR ADMISSION

In the event that unforeseen circumstances prevent you from joining us for the Fall 2009 semester, you may request to defer your application in writing to us via email to kbpardee@syr.edu. EECS reviews requests for deferment on a case-by-case basis.

If your request is approved, you will only be allowed to defer your admission once and for the period of at most one year. All defer requests must be made no later than DATE.

If you were awarded a tuition discount at the time of admission, your tuition discount will be applied to your deferred admission term.

If you have already paid the advanced tuition deposit, it will automatically be applied to the new term.

Degree-Bearing Transcripts
You are required to provide Syracuse University official credentials showing that a U.S. bachelor's degree (or equivalent) has been conferred. If you have not done so, you may bring your documents with you in a sealed envelope, or have your prior institution send the transcripts to:

For degrees obtained outside the U.S., students must provide acceptable documentation of the degree, such as a provisional or degree certificate.

Net ID

Activate Your SU NetID
Once you have sent in your Intent to Register card, you should activate your SU Net ID. Your Net ID is used as your email login and also allows access to different systems at the University. It is essential that you check your email account regularly once you arrive on campus, since all information is provided electronically.

To activate your email account with Computing and Media Services (CMS), please visit the following link: http://cms.syr.edu/accounts/activate.cfm.

Registration: In mid-July students who return the Intent to Register card (ITR) will receive a welcome packet which will contain information on registering for classes for the Fall 2009 semester. Registration will begin August 10, 2009.


Once You Arrive

I would like to meet you as soon as you arrive in Syracuse! Please come to the EECS Department Office in 4-206 CST (Center for Science & Technology). Rosanne Leary will direct you to the Graduate Records Office.


Attend the EECS Orientation
All EECS students beginning classes for Fall 2009 are strongly encouraged to attend the college’s new graduate student orientation, tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, August 26, 2009 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.


Attend the L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science Orientation

Attend the International Student Orientation
If you are an international student beginning your studies this spring, there is a mandatory orientation session on DAY, DATE from TIME. The University's Slutzker Center for International Services (SCIS) will lead this session. The SCIS provides advice to international students about what to expect when you arrive, as well as what is required of you. Their website is http://international.syr.edu.
